      Cinematic Guitars 2 KONTAKT

      DYNAMiCS | 14 December 2012 | 15.53 GB

Cinematic Guitars 2 – A suite of over 1200 jaw-dropping instruments and multis that are in no way just another guitar sample library. In creating a sequel to Cinematic Guitars, the designers at went all the way back to the fundamentals of the recording process, where they re-conceived and invented new and clever ways of creating and capturing unique sounds derived entirely from real guitars, a big part of which came from the destruction and mutilation of real guitars during the recording process. From guitars being chained up, drilled, shattered, sledge hammered, and set on fire to the elegance and pristine air of bowed and prepared guitars, all off which were carefully manipulated and morphed to craft a library that sounds like no other.

With professional features such as dry and wet samples, effect tails, MIDI loops and one-shots for creating your own drum beats, ‘Supalife Drum & Bass: Hard Edition’ is a truly comprehensive product that will suit even the most demanding producer right down to the ground.

The newest and largest of all Kirk Hunter Studios’ solo strings packages gives you 4 new solo sections which include 1st and 2nd chair (excluding solo bass). Coupled with innovative and progressive TVEC 3 programming, you will not find a more flexible and playable solo string library! One very nice feature is the way TVEC 3 handles the slides for Solo Strings 2. When you play a note, followed by another note you want to slide into (up or down), TVEC 3 knows whether to slide a lot or just a nudge. Also, the vibrato of the slide is now variable. With these the new solo strings, you can get all kinds of emotional solo playing styles, such as Country Western, or flat-out classical! Musical expression was key in recording these new sections. You’ll be able to get lush rich vibratos, lighter vibratos (for violins and violas), and austere and “creepy” non-vibratos.

Orchestral Brass Ensembles (henceforth known as OBE) consists — perhaps unsurprisingly — of orchestral brass ensembles recorded in a 2500-seater concert hall, using players (uncredited, as usual) from an American symphony orchestra. Two mic positions were used, one 30 feet from the players, the second 100 feet back to capture the hall reverb (see diagram, right). This lavish use of space created a collection of big-sounding samples known as the ‘symphonic’ recordings. In order to offer users sonic choice, Kirk also recorded a second set of samples in the same hall, but first made some significant musical and acoustic changes; section sizes were scaled down, and huge baffles were positioned on stage and in the hall’s ceiling, creating a smaller, more focused room sound (the layout for this setup is shown on page 138). The second sample set, less reverberant and more present-sounding than the first, are called the ‘chamber’ recordings.
